2002 Kia Sportage Q&A

2002 Kia Sportage Question: timing belt change

Is it necessary to change timing belt every 60,000miles? -
Answer 1
If your owners manual calls for the timing belt to be changed at 60,000, you should have it done as this engine is an interference engine and if that belt breaks it will cause major internal engine damage. You can view timing belt replacement costs here www.repairpal.com/estimator and find a shop here www.repairpal.com/directory -
Answer 2
YES!!! unless you want to replace the engine -
