How often should a timing belt be replaced on a 1998 Toyota Camry? (ex. every 80,000 miles?)

Toyota recommends replacing the timing belt on the 3.0L V6 at every 60,000 mile service for the 1998 Camry.

...Ford Escort wagon, approaching 60k miles. The Service Guide says NOTHING about replacing the timing belt. Is it supposed to last forever?? If not, when is it supposed to be replaced?
