2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Q&A

2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Question: timing belt

at what milage do i have my 2002 mitsubishi timing belt changed ? it now has 80,000 miles . what happens if i dont. if it breaks will this cause additional problems.?: thanks you. -
Answer 1
It should be replaced every 60,000 miles. Do it immediately because this is an INTERFERENCE engine, which means valve-to-piston damage will occurs in the case of timing belt failure. Try to avoid hard acceleration while drive it there - maybe better to tow it. Zee -
Answer 2
The Timing belt is recommended every 60,000 miles. At 80,000 miles I would recommend having someone check the front oil seals and water pump while they are in that area. -
