Timing belt snapped in half and is caught between the timing belt wheels. Can I take one of the wheels off to remove the broken timing belt?

Probably , but while you're there , remove the head and let a machine shop replace the bent valves. It's listed as an 'interference' engine , which means when the belt breaks , valves hit the pistons and bend or otherwise cause damage. Sorry , but if my info is correct , a good used engine might be the better option.
Thank you for your advice. I was afraid of that :-(
