Q:

timing belt on 1997 Ford Escort

Rookie cbe0621eac06868b3efe0d8d1d3611e23c60d3114864ea2ec19a68cfbd3eebab
My timing belt broke while I was driving. Can just the timing belt be fixed or will I have other engine damage? How difficult is it to change the timing belt yourself?

My book shows this engine as a interference engine so if the belt broke while driving you probably bent some of your valves, If you have never done a timing belt best to have a shop handle this http://repairpal.com/directory?address=45218&car_brand_names=Ford
the 97 model engine dont mind a broken timing belt.
just replace belt
(talking about single cam engine)
