timing and water pump? on 2001 Toyota Echo

Does the 2001 toyota echo have a timing belt or a timing chain? And when does the water pump need to be rerplaced?

It has a timing chain and the repair for the water pump would be at 90k

a timing chain when the pump makes a noise and/or u can move the pulley a little parallel to the spindle. When the bearing is bad, it sounds like the engine is going to fall apart but it will most likely b the h2o pump. For $400 including parts, get it done by Toyota dealer...saves a lot of frust/heartache. and skinned knucks
