1994 Chevrolet 1500 Pickup Question: Timing

The ECM ( computer ) controls the Spark Advance once the engine gets above 400 rpm. It is called EST ( Electronic Spark Timing ). Up until 400 rpm , the ignition module sets the timing at a very basic advance. that is why you have to dis-connect the brown and black wire connector when you check the timing, This dis-ables the Computer or EST, so only the module is timing the engine.
