2003 Chevrolet Malibu Q&A

2003 Chevrolet Malibu Question: timing

how do you adjust the timing ona 3.1 lt engine with electric coils -
Answer 1
if your changing the timing chain and the spockets on the engine, then follow this steps: 1st bring the number 1 piston to top dead center, there is a mark on the spockets. the timing spocket on the crankshaft will be at the 12 o'clock position. 2nd put your camshaft sprocket on and turn the camshaft until the timing mark is at the 6 o'clock position. 3rd install your chain on the spockets making sure both the timing marks are still lined up. with the chain and spockets installed spin your engine with a breaker bar or a ratchet and make sure your timing marks still lined up and that will be it -
