What should it cost to replace timer belt. My Kia Optima is a 2004 model (LX) and is just at 60,000 miles. I was charged $1200 by Executive Kia, Wallingford to replace belt and spark plugs and the car is still under warranty!!!

I think that 60K is the interval for timing belt. Not certain. You could check RepairPal's estimator: http://repairpal.com/estimator to double check. $1200 doesn't seem completely out of line for that kind of work, and it would never be covered under warranty, because belts are wear items, like brakes and tires, that aren't warranty.

Spark plugs could be the same. Check the factory maintenance schedule for those, too.
