throttle cable on 1992 Toyota Corolla

i have a 1992 toyota corolla 3sp a/t need to know how to adjust throttle cable

Get a friend to press the accelerator pedal fully to the floor. Slacken the two 12mm nuts at the throttle cable end at the throttle housing. Adjust the cable to get .040" of an inch (1mm)between the end of the rubber boot and the stopper that is part of the inner cable.

you know how the throttle cable is connected to the transmission itself, Now would the transmission fluid leak out if the rubber piece broke off.
revs very high and have to manually ajust the throttle by hand to lower my rpms. it revs the highest in park and reverse
I hear a clicking when I drive. It does not happen every time but more often lately.
