The price at the dealer is $350 w/o labor so where is this booger located and how hard is it to get out?

  Labor guide shows1.5 hours labor, the thermostat is part of the housing about $55 add $15 for coolant, the Thermostat is located at the front of the engine intake manifold side of the engine. Price you were quoted sounds high.
