2000 Toyota 4Runner

 

Question: the whole car shakes when applying brakes or going over 65 mph why?

problem occurs going down hill and applying brake or not
applying break and going at a high rate of speed. It
seems the whole care is shaking. Need two hands
pressing down hard to hold the steering wheel steady.

    First, this is a dangerous problem. I'd take it to a repair shop and ask them to check it.
    There might be bad steering dampener and possible warped brake rotors, but please don't risk it. Any shop would check it and give you an estimate, probably for free.
