I removed the control panel and there was nothing attached to the rear of the temp control knob and there was nothing that looked like it had come loose from the knob or controller. What part do I need and where does it attach ?

MasterI THINK INSIDE THE CONTROL KNOB THERE SHOULD BE A METAL PIECE THAT LOCKS IT IN PLACE. YOU NEED TO BUY A NEW KNOB AT FORD

MasterGlobal is talking about a metal spring clip that is built into the knob itself, you can find all those parts at www.parts.com

louieg58, May 14, 2012, 08:22RookieI figured out what I had to do to complete the job. I had to remove the damper control from under the dash. I had to pry it off using a screwdriver. It didnt look like it wanted to come off but i was persistent and pried it from the top and the bottom. Once it came off the other end snapped right into the back of the control knob. I replaced the control panel and then reconnected the damper control onto the damper. And it worked. You just have to remember to put the selector dial in the correct heat or cold position depending on where the damper control is set. There is a "h" and a "c" on the damper control under the dash.
