Question: The service power steering system lite is on the dash

I replaced pump and pulley 8 months to 1 year ago. no Leaks, car seems to steer fine no noise. If it weren't for the lite being on constantly I wouldn't notice anything. Step son replaced the switch on the rack. i had him remove the negative cable from battery before he started the job. when he got done the light was still on. What else could be wrong.
Oh i checked the fluid level its fine too!

    When the "service power steering" message is displayed on the dash of your 1998 Cadillac DeVille a fault code should be stored in the Anti-Lock Brake module or the Road Sensing Suspension Module. Reading the code(s) should lead to proper diagnosis of your steering system. The steering wheel position sensor may have failed but I would not replace any more parts without diagnosing the system further.

    I seem to have a similar problem on my 1997 deville....how can the sensor be disconnected so that it stops dinging every 10 seconds when the message comes accross
