Something major has broken. Did not say ridiculously expensive, just important. The strut may have broken at the top by the bearing plate or the mount itself. The coil spring may have busted. You need to send back with a full description of what you see. Do not drive this vechicle if you can help it. Send new post with full visual description as soon as possible. I only say new post because more info. is needed and it is bedtime for me good luck!!

thanks for responding. the car is new to me. 126k miles. looks like springs have some kind of shackle on it. stretching the springs. it has the sport suspension. the electrical hook ups are on the shocks but not sure where they hook up inside engine compartment. i did buy some new struts and spring assemblies. do you think that will fix it? using the donut tire at this point.

kind of figured that's what it was. i bought new strut and spring assemblies already. got it to the dealer. verdict...bent strut and damaged control arm.
