This occurs while I am driving. The brake pedal becomes stiff and I am unable to depress it all. Brakes are A.B.S.

there isw a failure somewhere. it could be a bad caliper, hose or master cylinder. you need a shop to check it for you and get a bid.

Do all the brakes lock on? Drive around until the brakes lock jack up the car see if one or all brakes are locking up. If all are locking up the brake master cylinder must be faulty, but don't jump to conclusions before doing proper tests and inspect brake components at each wheel.
