This taurus is a station wagon and I recently found my backup lights did not work. After investigating further the third brake light also does not work. Both the reverse lights and third brake light are on the back door (hatchback). I checked bulbs and fuses and both checked out okay. I visually inspected the wiring and it appeared okay from the spare up to the backup light. Any Suggestions?

Check for power at the lamp sockets when they should be on. I have seen pinched wiring in the harness around the top of the tailgate near the hinge area. Both reverse lights and third brake light have wiring in the same harness.
