Question: tension the belt

 Rookie

How do you properly tension the belt on a 1998 chevy monte carlo? Just work the belt tensioner or is there anything else...?
Greatly appreciate any help..

    The serpentine belt on your 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is automatically tensioned by the tensioner. If the tensioner is working correctly you can move the tensioner to release tension on the belt. After installing the belt just release the tensioner and the spring in the tensioner will automatically tension the belt.

    You might want to check for leaks in steering gear boots and if none then the power steering pump is not pumping.

    CHECK FOR LEAKS IN STEERING GEAR BOOTS IF NONE, POWER STEERING PUMP NOT PUMPING
