i have a noise that sounds like it coming from tension pulley area. guy at advance said that my tension pulley did have some play in it but others tell me different! i had each pulley checked an guy said pulleys were fine..at times it sounds like i ran over a puppy cause it makes like a yelping noise.i know u probably hear noises due to the higher mileage but i would really like to get a straight answer. had alternator tested an its fine but once again i was told it bould be the bearings in alternator! suggestions please!!! thanks

i would start with a belt. since the new cars use both sides of the belt, any metal showing from wear gives out a lot of noise. spray some water on the belt while it is running and see if the noise goes away. if it does, replace the belt. if not you need a shop to remove the belt and find out the component that has failed.

it will only verify if the belt id bad. it is not a fix. if it stops the noise, replace the belt.

the tensioner has lost its ability to keep tension.
i would start by replacing the tensioner and belt and see what happens
