Question: Temp gauge runs at hot when in traffic

Hi, my 93 taurus is running hot when
running a slow speeds or in traffic , the thermostat was just changed in august 09 , it stays in the center when
running at highway speeds of about 45 -50
what could be a possible problem my mechanic already checked pressure on radiator and saw no water pump leaks
Please any advise ?

    These engines are prone to headgasket leakage. Have it checked for a headgasket leak. You can learn more about that here: http://repairpal.com/testing-for-headgasket-failure

    Have you noticed the under hood cooling fan kick on at any time? If your a/c works, you can start the engine, turn on the a/c and that should force the cooling fan to come on. That will tell you if you have a problem with the fan and relay or not. However, if your a/c does not work, the computer in the car will not command the fan on.

    Please reply with results. And yes, Munky is right these era of v6s had lots of head gasket problems...
