2000 BMW 528i Question: TEMP. GAUGE ISSUES

TEMP GAUGE SHOOTS FROM LOW TO HIGH. I SHUT THE CAR OFF THEN IT SETTLES AT A REALLY LOW TEMPERATURE. THERMOSTAT,WATER PUMP,RADIATOR,HOSES,OVERFLOW BOTTLE HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED. PLEASE HELP

    check the fans.these autos are also known for bad water pumps.replace the thermostat if its old.

    thanks. but all the above have been changed. could it possibly be the temperture sensor that has gone bad. what are my chances on that??? also how should i test the fans,they look like they are working????
