Check the engine oil level top up if required, it may be the lifters. Your valve clearances are self adjusting using engine oil pressure, if the lifters are failing or get restricted due to infrequent oil changes the lifters may noise at idle. It could also be an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold or exhaust manifold gaskets. Too many things to guess without hearing the noise first hand.

Thank you. The tapping sounds like a metal to metal tapping(ie.tap, tap, tap, tap constant) ony when I'm idleing. "Otherwise car runs okay.also it idles really high when started and continues to idle high until it runs about 30 minutes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, was told to replace mass air flow sensor that may fix the problem.
