I have a 94 bronco FS, when I bought it I found a lot of exhaust fumes coming in. I was told by the guy I bought it from that it is caused by the tailpipes coming out under the rear bumper. There are many places that the fumes can get in, I am working now to resolve that problem. But before I spend money to have the tailpipes re-routed, I want to be sure that moving the T-pipes to come out just behind the rear wheels is the best thing to do. Anyone know about this problem.

In my opinion the best place for the exhaust to exit is behind the vehicle. How many passenger cars or trucks the have in front of the wheel exhaust from the factory, very, very few. I would make sure all your doors, windows, and tailgate seal correctly. Check the under side of the truck for any damage, holes and/or missing floor board plugs. Also make sure the tail pipe exits behind the bumper not before it.

The tips are about 4 inches out from the bumper, there many places where the exhaust can come in, over time I can fix them all. Its an old Bronco, so of course the seals and things need replacement. I have been told that out the side, after the rear wheel will solve this problem? But, like I said, I don't want to spend money if it will not work better.

I have a '94 also, and while replacing plugs and wires I found a smog check valve on the top back of the engine had broken in two. Mech. at Ford says these burn out all the time. I also had what I thought were exhaust fumes coming into the cab, but they had more of a burn't oil smell. My Bronco does not use oil and I kept looking for a leak on the exhaust manifold. After replacing the smog checkvalve, my problem disappeared. But you have to do tricks to replace this puppy, it is a huge PIA!
