t stat change; isn't there a vent on the block. on 1998 Mercury Villager

when changeing the t stat isnt there a vent on the block to be cracked during refill?

Not necessarily, you can just fill the car and then run it and then 'burp' the system. Sometimes I fill up the system and then I drive the car until the temp gauge becomes stable, which is a sign that the system has burped. Then I top off the system.
