Question: Suspension noise?

If I get a squeaking noise as I drive over road imperfections, even fairly mild ones, or from applying my weight on and off the right fender, should I assume that it is a worn strut? Can worn struts make such a noise when they go up and down? The car has high mileage,173k,yet feels snug enough as I drive,no float. The car has new ball joints and tie rod ends.Thank you.

Worn struts can make this noise but, you need to test this first. The other culprit is worn out control arm bushings. Follow the control arm to the bushing and spray a lot of lubricant all over it and have someone apply weight repeatedly to the fender while you listen for the noise. If the squeaking goes away (temporarily) or gets a lot quieter you know you need to replace bushing instead. Otherwise, it is probably the strut.

Thank you.I wa thinking this might be the other possibility, though I think the noise originates a bit higher in the car.I will get a helper to help track down the noise and try your idea as well.
