2005 Chevrolet Impala

Question: suprise temp. rising to red on guage, message says coolent temp. hot

I have never had a problem with my car overheating, just 10 min. ago the temp. shot up to the red and the message said the coolant was overheating. Is it the pump or the thermostat. I have no leaks at all and the hose is'nt to hot to hold on to

    Not a mechanic and based on info found else where,I would say replace the coolant temperature sensor. On the 3.4 its located on the radiator I believe. Hope this helps
