I'd recommend finding a replacement unit. Call your favorite MBZ specialist or get into the Portland phone book, there are companies that supply or rebuild superchargers for Diesel trucks, they might be of some help. Myself, first thing I'd do is find out where to get MBZ parts, look in the phone book or online. Unless you're in love with that particular compressor, think about an exchange unit. our shop has replaced several C230K superchargers. the hot ticket is from www.psesuperchargers.com; it is an exchange reman unit. everything else is just a rebuild with new spray paint. yes, you do have to replace it as it will begin to spew oil into the intercooler, which will get inside and ruin your air mass sensor. be sure to check the supercharger clutch as well and replace it if you have any doubt. pse is about 1/2 the cost of MB as long as your core is rebuildable. - overbys
99 C230 with 110,000 miles. Does the supercharger require periodic service? Does it have a finite service life or known problems?
I heard on american made cars with supercharger - they do need to change the oil.
There is a grinding noise coming from the supercharger and it looks like the clutch is cracking around it.
