suitable rearend on 1997 Kia Sportage

My rearend went out and i cannot find a replacement in the area... will another rearend work if i were to use one out of something like a geo tracker or anything else

i tried that... didnt find anything and google isnt a mechanic... plus i dont think there are many american mechanics that are kia experts especially myself or i wouldnt be askin the question

No gogle isn't a mechanic, but it does locate things if you know what to type in. The last time I looked at a kia, it has 4 wheels, a 4 stroke internal combustion engine. I think we AMERICAN MECHANICS can figure out your sportage!!!!!! Maybe if you serviced the rear end like your supposed to do you wouldn't have this problem! Oh, that's right it's a kia. I'm sorry.

Suzuki makes the tracker for chevy, and I think the axles are a Mazda design. I don't know if they swap with a Kia though. I replaced a 96 Sportage rear axle with one from a 99, but you might need the complete assembly, including emergency brake cables, because the 98 and up have different bearings brakes and axle shafts. I don't know if 97 is like the 96,or like the 98.
