First this a 1985 944. How can I free up the oil pump drive gear to remove the pump and crank. The #2 rod bearing spun and I have all the rods out and still need to remove the crank, but the pump gear wont slide off the crank

Once you remove the housing perhaps try penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench or paraffin wax and a propane touch. Have you a workshop manual. The Bentley paper manuals are good or you buy it on CD. There is a company that independent auto repair shops buy their information from that the same information inexpensively to do it yourselfers. The information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... Alldata is very easy to navigate http://bit.ly/AllData_Repair_Manuals_Online

I am soaking it overnight with Kroil penatrating oil. No room to get a torch to heat it wihout damaging the pump. I wish I could get a bently for it but they never published one for this model. I have many bently manuals and love them.

The penatrating oil and extra pressure on the housing got it off tonight.
    Tnaks!
