2006 Nissan Maxima Question: strut replacement

i have a bad strut do to a pothole i believe. can i replace it myself. i am mechanically inclined. just need to the steps to be safe. can i remove it w/o taking out the spring.? -

You'll need a spring compressor to replace the strut. I suggest you get a repair manual here: http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online and read up on the job and see if you have the tools and ability to perform such a job. I suggest replacing both front struts and the same time. Good Luck. -
