my stock alarm sounds off from no apparent reason at all different hours of the day and sometimes not at all, sometimes 3 times in a day ,sometimes not at all. I double check to see if doors or trunk or hood is ajar and it still will at any random time sound off.also my door combination/ keyless entry code # from the factory does not work, tried disconnecting battery to reset but still does not work,it does work when you push the 2 #s I believe is 7 & * to lock all doors. IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH THIS IT WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED ,THE ALARM CAUSES ALOT OF SLEEPLESS NIGHTS WHEN IT SOUNDS SOMETIMES REPEATEDLY FOR NO SAID REASON.

hi i have a 98 and same problem. been chasing it down for a while and it happened so much it caused the alarm to not recognise the key and had to bring to dealer to have recoded. 3 days and it started again for no reason. i finally did a little research and found that if you open trunk and remove the lining by lock area you will see lock and harness for wires....everyone says to diconnect/cut the alarm feed but no one explains how you detect it. for me, and only my experiment, was if you look closely you will see a small flexible steel cable attatched to the "keylock" inside the trunk backuplight area. this has a connector at end which goes to a 2 wire harness plug wrapped in electric tape branching off from trunk harness. disconnent it right there(socket connector from harness to 7 inch flex spring steel going to lock) and cover both ends with tape, and replace the lining. do not touch wires going to latch bolted to trunk for the release. i found this to be my solution to my alarm problem. it could have been due to old age and worn parts near lock but i also believe that moistue was also a culprit in setting it off. raindays, change in temp, extreme winds. all seemed to do it but as of now no more problems, no alrm going off!!!the trunk release works and trunl light also! by the way i cant speak for others but i never found a switch under my drivers hood, there is no light either but i see people stating that as their problem so best of luck and easy enough to try. the rest of your vehicle is still alarmed.
