Question: stiff shifter

have a 94 honda accord EX 133kgrat car automatic trans shifts fine ..but lately the shifter is rather stiff..often keep change in this area ..could a coin fallen in and got caught or is it like a shifter cable problem

    A coin could be in there, but more likely debris like liquids that may be near by get poured into that area accidentally and gum up the mechanism. I would probably disassemble at the shifter and physically see what's going on in there.
