Love Steve's however they do seem to take a long while to fix things...not sure why that is. Also annoyed they don't have their own diagnostic machine at the shop. Prices are a bit high as well.

Everyone at SI is so friendly and accommodating. They always seem to care for me as a person not just a customer. I wish I remembered the name of the guy that always checks me in, he is always so helpful, thoughtful, and personable. The guys that fix my car are always thorough and very generous in helping me. I am a single mom with cancer and I never feel intimidated at SI nor do I feel like they try to do more work than necessary rather I feel that they help me out a lot. I appreciate it so very much!! There was some confusion on the quote and that was corrected, which I appreciated. When I picked up my car the driver side fog light was busted out and no one had an explanation. My car was towed due to it not wanting to start. The fog light was intact when AAA drove off with it. Also, there were no noises coming from the engine previous to the repair and now the engine is running rough and making a constant horrible noise.

There was a specific request made (and documented) that was not attended to, and I need to go back to the shop to have it taken care of. Also, this is the second time a grease mark has been left on the interior of my car and I will ask to have that removed as they did last time.

That said, I have used this shop for years and will continue to do so.

Customer care and service was excellent. Bryan (service adviser) was friendly, helpful and professional. Shuttle service was very much appreciated and the driver was polite and accommodating. The outstanding hallmark of this visit was honesty. I was informed that part of the service needed was under recall from Toyota. That saved me several hundred dollars and has made me a customer for life at Steve's. Oh, and the work that was performed was excellent. The car feels better to drive and I feel safe heading into the winter season.

You need to have the three faults diagnosed. Until those three issues are attended to, the vehicle will not go through readiness. Chances are that you need an 02 Sensor which is not a big deal. But the evap system needs diagnosis also.

Ok so if you have power to your fuse box, and your battery is good, then I would recommend checking to see if you have power going to your ignition switch (test light and voltmeter recommended). Test power wire which is likely red, then if there is power, see if you have power from the ignition going to the starter. However it sounds like you do not have power to the ignition but I am unable to test so that is what I recommend doing.

If your ignition control module/immobilizer is fine, and you need a new key, Mercedes can send you a key code device that you return when finished. It needs to be ordered to the VIN. Whenever you replace parts involving the immobilizer, you need to be sure you have the computing capabilities to initialize the system. I have seen these types of repairs get very complicated. I would be very curious as to why you are replacing the EIS in the first place. Mercedes keys, especially if they are the original ones (the solid black ones without the chrome sides), commonly have communication issues that will cause no start or even ignition engaging issues do to communication issues with the key itself. Rarely do we end up replacing the actual EIS.

First of all you did a great job of laying out the information in regards to your concern. My first assumption would be that your vehicle has not been properly diagnosed. Commonly I see people scan their vehicle by a facility (or parts store that offers free diagnostic code readings) that do not specialize in diagnosis. They will pull a fault code (likely P0421) and say, wala! It needs an oxygen sensor. The issue with this is that it is not the proper way to diagnose an issue. Your engine computer says it has a bad reading from the O2 sensor, however, how do we know if this is caused by the sensor itself? Yes, most commonly it is the sensor, but without proper component testing, you will continue to have an unresolved issue. First step is to have the vehicle properly diagnosed. If you can not afford diagnosis at this time, then return all your O2 Sensors and use that money to pay for diagnosis. Another option (provided you have access to the equipment) would be to take the front and rear temperature of the catalyst to make sure it is heating up. Then scope the O2 sensor to check for irregular patterns. Finally, double check to confirm that the O2 sensor wires did not get swapped when replacing (a common rookie mistake)
