Female. New to the area. I have a 2003 chevy cavalier. Today(2009)its 6 yrs old. Needed new brakes and rotors. I called before hand and received an estimate of $254.40 for parts and labor on the rotors. Total walk out: $400 plus tax .
Told them I wanted new front brake pads and rotors. They immediately tried to upsell me with, "how about an oil change". Don't know whether its standard practice or because I'm female.
He showed me a hand written paper with brakes & rotors and then service and $420 written at the bottom like a math problem. I was expecting about $420 and receive a bill $499. Surprise! a difference of $79. I felt angry and like a chump.
Total walk out price $499.95. A difference of $80 bucks from the original price sans the "recommended $79 service".
The brakes and rotors work wonderfully but I wasn't impressed by the service department. Store did not seem female friendly and persistently upsells. Called and got hung up on when tried to ask follow up question about a rebate.
