Question: STEREO READS CODE AND DOES NOT WORK AFTER RECHARGING BATTERY. REST OF DASH WORKS

 Rookie

1) is there a code that I have to enter in order to reset the stereo/cd player?
2)is there a fuse to replace.
3) I have punched in several different combinations on the stereo key board and it only results in an "error" message replacing the word "code"
4) all other digital read outs work except the clock which displays the time two hours late and blinking.

    If you have had some work done on your car that involved disconnecting the battery, you may knock out the memory from the computer and is the reason you are having trouble with the radio. The dealer can reset that for you.

    If you enter too many incorrect codes the stereo may lock you out, I think on my car I had to drive around or leave power to the radio for an hour before reattempting to enter a "new" code. Do you have the correct code that came on a credit card sized piece of plastic when the car was purchased new.

    I did purchase the car new but I do not remember a card. Is there a way of getting another card or looking it up online by the vin number?

    You can call the dealer that first sold the vehicle. Give the VIN number. They will give you the code. Punch it in and your all set. Otherwise you have to have the radio pulled out to get number off of it, then call & they can get code.
