Hi, i have just read the thread about steering problems with 2003 Acura TL. Well I have the same problem. I just bought this car from a private seller and i can feel vibrations when i go over 60 mph, and they increase with the speed and the steering wheel is shaking. I am almost afraid to drive on highways. And when i brake the car shakes even more. I looked at the rotors, and to the touch all 4 of them feel pretty even w/o bumps or scratches/indentations. It even shakes when i brake from 40mph and i literally have to "hold the horses" with my foot with an unusual for me pressure on a pedal at a red light. (My second car is 1999 Toyota Camry 4cyl) I have leveled off tires to 32psi as indicated - didn't help. And also every time i start a car, shift to D5 gear and start moving slowly, after a few seconds, i hear some weird sound, like the one that you can hear from the that drill they use in auto shops when you take the bolts off from the wheel to take the wheels off. It goes "vzhhhhhhh" once and the second time it does same thing when you star moving faster. And this is the only time it will do it. Just from the start. Any ideas on that? Thank you very much!

Have the suspension checked for wear. Examine the tires for unusual wear pattern. If tires look OK and you experience vibration felt in the steering wheel at 50 to 65 mph an hour our tires may need to be balanced. If you feel the vibration in the steering wheel and brake pedal on braking it is most likely the front brake rotors that need to replaced or re-machined (they need to be inspected for "run out").
I think the other problem you describe is more serious, sounds like a transmission problem, We have replaced a lot of TL transmissions.
