Did you try turning the wheel as you turn the key? Sometime the steering wheel gets locked and wont allow the key to turn unless the steering wheel is turned hard to one way. If this isnt the case try hitting the back of the key with a something a a little heavy that will focus its contact on the back of the key without bending it. The tumblers in the ignition cylinder may be stuck. If this works it would be important to fix this because this may happen again.
