Steering column to frame connection on 1990 Chevrolet Suburban 1500

The connection where the Steering box mounts to the frame has pulled loose. A mechanic told me I need to cut out a piece of the frame and weld an undamaged piece back on. another told me he thought there was an adapter kit that would solve the problem. Is either mechanic correct?

I had a similar problem with my 1991 Chevy suburban 1500 truck. I had a shop
weld a piece of steel to the outside of the frame where the steering box mounts to
the frame. That fixed my problem with a loose steering box.
