steering on 1998 Lincoln Continental

When turning left or right there is a squeaking noise comming from the(I think) the steering column. It's fine once the turn is made.

I just had to replace the tie-rods. This is what was causing the noise when turning. They have to replace them both because they have to aline it when their done. Cost was $ 250 at Sears.

look at the power steering fluild. after that if it is full you probley need a new power steering pump

Switched off and restarted the engine - the power steering then OK. Happened again a few days later What is the likely cause?
My mechanic says that all these lines are rusted out and need to be replaced. He told me that the PS line alone calls for 7 hours of labor? Any thoughts as to what these repairs ought to cost me?
