P0300 is a random missfire code. It usally does not mean a major repair but I do not know for sure with what little info here. I would get a second opinion at another shop. Best get recommendations from friends or neighbors of a reliable shop in your town.

What's confusing is manual states a Check Engine flasing light is a misfire condition and a Light on steady is emmission control.... and suggest to check gas cap is properly sealed.. vehicle is at dealers now and can't do that.
    thanks for your help.

Not to confuse you but if it is dectecting an active missfire it will flash...If the missfire goes away then the light will just remain on solid....I do not think the gas cap is a issue in this case. I did do some research and there has been issues with the VTC system on that engine. (Variable Cam Timing)

You heard wrong...NO ONE is replacing a cylinder...and it will NOT cost five grand to replace a fuel injector.

PROBLEMS WITH MOST EARLY H3 HUMMERS. GM NOT DOING A RECALL. IF THE LAST 6 NUMBERS OF YOUR VIN ARE LESS THA 287591 YOU HAVE A GOOD CHANCE OF HAVING A BAD HEAD INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY
