2004 Ford Taurus Question: Starting

New battery and starter is a year old. Sometimes, it will not turn over, just get a "click" when trying to start the car. eventually, it turns over, it comes and goes. Sometimes, no problem for days. What would cause this? -

First thing to check is the battery cables, they have to be clean and tight to have proper voltage to engage the starter. -

I took hemicuda's advice even tho I knew the battery cables were good....however, i traced the cable to the starter and found that it had a loose connection. Took 2 minutes to tighten that up. Thank you for the answer/response...appreciate it very much. -
