starter is grinding it was replaced a few months ago could it be the fly wheel?

    It could be bad teeth on the flywheel /ring gear, remove the starter and get a friend "turn over" the engine using a socket on the crankshaft pulley while you inspect for damaged teeth. It could also be a defective starter.
