Speedometer on 1995 Geo Tracker

Speedometer is not working, is there a cable or is it electric.

I think it is a physical cable from the tranny to the back of the instrument cluster. Mine is noisy too and I'm gonna have to replace it somehow.

I got to the cable behind the instrument cluster thru the speaker cover left side of dash. The cable came out of the instrument cluster. I just put it back in, not much room for my big arm. Right in side the panel is the switch to reset "Check Engine" light. Just some information. Thank you for your help. This is a 1995 Tracker. Jim

when it is cold out, under 60 degrees, the noise is rather loud. when it warms up, the car, it is quiet.
