ok on a '06 Kia Spectra EX manual, are there any particular spark plugs that historically DO NOT work well with Kia?

    Yes, anything that is not the factory type of Spark Plug. When you replace Spark Plugs, you MUST use the factory recommend type, or there may/will be issues.

    SO i have to buy KIA brand spark plugs?

    there not kia plugs. probably NGK brand which you can purchase at any parts store.
