I just had the spark plugs replaced after 41000 miles as the car did not fire when the engine turned over. The garage said that this needed certain items on the engine removed to get at the plugs. Also a cadillac gasket was needed when put back togeather. The total cost was over $600. Does this seam logical. Or is the local garage overpricing. Many thanks./ DD

The book shows 3.3 hours of labor which includes remove and replacing the intake manifold plus the platinum plugs and intake gasket needed so the cost is correct as its a big job

Is it necessary to remove the upper intake manifold to replace the spark plugs? If so, how do you do this and will a gasket need to be relaced?
