Question: sound system - speakers don't work

My sound system was working fine, I turned the engine off and went shopping for about an hour and a half. When I returned, I got in the car started it up, I turned the stereo on but there is no sound. The stereo or head unit is operating like it normally does, all the displays seem to be functioning properly but no sound is coming out.... Any suggestions?

    Need to pull the Stereo head and see why there is no out put. It is most likely in the Stereo head it self.

    I had the same issue--the amplifier (in the trunk?) was the actual culprit rather than the dash unit. Changed out the amplifier under warranty and no further problems.
