Software Update Available Which May Correct Transmission Issues on Kia Rio

Reprogramming the transmission control module with the latest Kia transmission software may fix abnormalities in the automatic transmission and erroneous transmission-related Check Engine Light illumination. Software updates are commonly most effective on newer vehicles. Higher mileage vehicles may exhibit a similar symptom caused by a component failure. However, whenever major transmission repairs are performed the transmission software should be checked and updated as necessary.

The check engine light would initially come on at random & now never goes out. While the check engine light is lit, the shifting of the transmission is a "hard shift" if it shifts at all. Sometime the car will not move & then will move in a "bucking" motion. I have not been able to fix the problem as i was told it was my computer that needed to be replaced & i am not able to afford it. But, after reading this it seems i may need to reset the computer
2009 Kia Rio 29,700 mi,
At first, stuck in 3rd (automatic). Manually L and 2nd, OK. Push to D and 3rd OK. Never comes out of third. DTC codes P0717 and P2096. Cleared up by itself 3rd day.
2004 Kia Rio 201,000 mi,
Went to accelerate and no go for 200 feet on onramp couldn't get over 40kms an hour. then pressed on it and got up to 90, still hesitates and runs rough, very fragile trying to accelerate. Was given a p0p700 code tcm low range
2009 Kia Rio 86,000 mi,
Gets "confused" changing gears before getting stuck in second gear. Engine light comes on. Runs great, but unfortunately, only in second gear:)
2004 Kia Rio 34,570 mi,
No shift, replaced torque converter do to oil leak from the seal -pump.
2004 Kia Rio 30,000 mi,
hard shift from 2nd to 3rd then after a few times goes into limp mode.
2008 Kia Rio 96,000 mi,
Ck. Engine light would come on briefly and go out, after a few months it came on and stayed on so had it check and it showed " Automatic transmission speed sensor" was bad have tried to replace it but no one including Kia seems to have 1 to match it.
2013 Kia Rio 43,000 mi,
2013 Kia Rio GDI in excellent shape. With Transmission in automatic mode, upshift a 4k rpm after uphill climb on an interstate occasionally produces a flashed check engine light ( does not stay on) and power loss ( engine rpms stay even ). It seems to be trying to find a gear so there is a loss of power while it is thinking about shifting. Only 10% of the time but it is repeatable. Does not occur in manual shift mode at same rpm and speed or during load and over-geared. Eliminated fuel variability or water. Thinking a sensor feeding transmission logic or software glitch may be the culprit.
2010 Kia Rio 25,000 mi,
25000kms not sure what that is in miles but its very low and the car engine light keeps coming on and going into limp mode or it simply just wont go into gear and sit there both in drive and reverse gears Sydney, Australia
