should the timing belt be replaced on 2006 Kia Sorento

it was recommended that I replace the timing belt on my 4WD sorento. It has 42000 miles (dealer has not seen car -this was over the phone conversation). Is the replacement of timing belt necessary @ 42000 miles/

Our records show that the timing belt service interval for your 2006 Kia Sorento is 60,000 miles. It my be a good idea to check with your Kia dealer to see if they have an updated service interval.

I just called a week ago, and the Kia dealership service manager told me that they have recalled the interval for the timing belt to be replaced at 45,000 instead of 60,000 as indicated on the owner manual. This is for a 2006 ex sorento.
