Question: short in wiring harness when using cigarette lighter?

 Rookie

looking for replacement harness, gm has none available. any else have this trouble?

    The cigarette lighter circuits on a lot of cars easily short and burn out with all the things we use like iPods and phone chargers. can you put in a better quality lighter and solder in better wires?
