1992 Mercedes-Benz 300TE Question: Shifting problems

My husband worked on my car couple weeks back replacing the stabilizer arm and now my transmission is not changing right. What could he have done to it? -

The boden cable may be out of adjustment, goes from the accelerator linkage to the transmission or did a vacuum line get disconnected? -

The bushings for the shifter lever wear out to the point where they break and fall out. This causes excessive movement (loose feel) in the shifter lever and a clanging-type noise when changing gears.
